Spine Surgery
Spine surgery is a surgical procedure that aims to alleviate a patient’s back pain by changing the anatomy of the spine through various types of procedures depending on the diagnosis⁵. The standard method of spine surgery is called open surgery. This uses a long incision down the back. The muscles and soft tissue around the spine would need to be moved away. In some cases, tissue would need to be removed⁴. There are also minimally invasive spine surgeries that use smaller incisions and cause less damage to surrounding tissues.
